NEW YORK—Cilantro futures surged in early trading Wednesday after credible reports emerged that someone, somewhere, was making tacos.
The rally accelerated when a nearby shopper placed both limes and corn tortillas in the same basket, an alignment economists called statistically difficult to misunderstand.
Markets cooled by noon after the shopper returned the cilantro and purchased a packet of ranch seasoning.
